Forensic Social Work
Bringing clinical and a trauma-informed perspective to the criminal legal system.
With over a decade of experience working alongside criminal defense attorneys, I provide forensic evaluations, mitigation services, clinical consultation, and professional supervision grounded in the belief that every person's story deserves to be understood in its full complexity.
Experience at the Intersection of Social Work and Law
For over a decade, I have worked at the intersection of social work and the criminal legal system, collaborating closely with criminal defense attorneys to provide forensic assessments, mitigation services, and reentry planning for justice-impacted individuals. My experience spans all stages of the criminal legal process, from pre-plea and sentencing advocacy to post-conviction proceedings and reentry. Throughout my career, I have worked with individuals navigating complex mental health challenges, trauma, incarceration, and systemic barriers, bringing a clinical and trauma-informed perspective to legal advocacy.
Prior to entering private practice, I held leadership positions at two New York City public defense organizations, where I directed interdisciplinary social work programs, supervised clinical staff, and collaborated with attorneys on complex criminal cases. I have been qualified as an expert in forensic social work in New York State Supreme Court and have provided courtroom testimony, psychosocial evaluations, and mitigation reports. Today, I draw on this experience to provide forensic consultation and evaluations, clinical supervision, and professional training for social workers, attorneys, and organizations working within the criminal legal system.
