About Me

I’m Elia Johnson, LCSW, a licensed clinical social worker in Connecticut and New York. I offer trauma-informed therapy for individuals seeking healing, growth, and a deeper sense of connection to themselves and others. My work is grounded in the belief that healing happens when we feel safe enough to explore our stories with curiosity and compassion.

Over the past decade, I’ve worked at the intersection of social work and justice, supporting individuals impacted by trauma, incarceration, and systemic inequity. These experiences continue to shape my approach to therapy - one that honors the full complexity of each person’s life and recognizes the deep connection between personal healing and broader systems of care and justice.

In therapy, I integrate traditional talk therapy with mindfulness, meditation, and yoga-based practices to help clients calm the nervous system, reconnect with the body, and build resilience. As a certified 500-hour yoga teacher, I view healing as both a mental and physical process that supports growth from the inside out.

In addition to my clinical work, I provide clinical supervision for social workers seeking reflective guidance in their own practices, and I continue to offer forensic evaluations, expert testimony, and training for legal and mental health professionals.

I hold a Master of Science in Social Work from Columbia University, a Post-Master’s Certificate in Trauma-Informed Clinical Practice from New York University, and a B.A. in Psychology from Barnard College. I currently serve as the Director of Integrated Client Services at Appellate Advocates, where I integrate trauma-informed, holistic social work practices into post-conviction representation.

At the heart of my work, whether in therapy, supervision, or advocacy, is a commitment to compassion, justice, and the belief that healing is both personal and collective.
